Now the 2001 Planners Network National Conference Voices of Change: Lessons from CITIZEN PLANNERS (founded by this reporter in 1978) will be held June 21-24 in Rochester.
"The conference will explore the critical role neighborhood activists and citizen planners are playing in organizing local communities; rebuilding urban neighborhoods; and promoting progressive local, state and national urban policies. Workshops include affordable housing production, community-based planning/development, environmental racism and sustainable development."

The NAMGYAL MONASTERY Institute of Buddist Studies at 412 N. Aurora Street will host the Ven. Geshe Lobsang Donyo, the Abbot of the Serajay Monastery, for a free weekend teaching, June 15th, 16th and 17th. Friday 7pm to 8:30pm; Saturday 9am to noon with a two-hour break for lunch, and then resume 2 to 5pm. Sunday 9am to noon. Free and open to all, but a donation is suggested. The world's first LOCAL CURRENCY TOURIST BROCHURE is now available wherever tourist brochures are found. Beautiful job-- produced by Margaret McCasland and Jim Houghton with support from advertisers and a Tompkins County Tourism Development Grant.
